This is the successor to the lipstick tube shaped 7280 and is clearly aimed at the fashion-conscious, arguably female, who want a device that has that extra something without sacrificing on function. It is part of Nokia’s L’Amour collection
The Nokia 7380 is small, sleek, light (80g) with excellent voice clarity. The front has got a rectangular mirror under which you find a 64k widescreen display. The standard keypad has been dispensed with and instead, an intuitive scroll-wheel is there for navigation. As a major step-up from its predecessor, the 7380 boasts a 2.0MP camera. This is supported by a 52Mb memory for storage of images, among other things.
Navigation is easy via the scroll-wheel and there is voice-dialling, vibration-alert, an FM Radio, music player and Bluetooth. Other features include a camera with digital-zoom, camera flash, GPRS, tri-band and hands-free speakerphone.
There is also bundled earphones for the use of audiophiles. However, audio quality is really just about average. While features are impressive considering the size, the restrictions of this soon tell. Text messaging is a real chore and will test anyone’s patience. Remember, there is no numeric keypad.
Battery life is disappointing. Many users will also find the easily smearing mirror an irritant and the display fairly small. If you can live with these drawbacks, the little Nokia 7380 will prove to be a gem of a phone and if nothing else, it should turn heads (if that is your thing).
