For audiophiles, the Sony Ericsson W810i was a god-send. The advent of this model in 2006 proved to be the flagship of the company’s very successful Walkman® line of phone models. It has proved popular globally and rightly so.
Sony Ericsson maintained their classy understated design here. The end result is a superb device that works outstandinly well in all it is set out to do.
Being a follow-on to its predecessor, the W800i, how does it differ from its older sibling? Externally, the differences are minor, but functionally, they are quite significant. The W810i is thinner and it has dispensed with the joystick (which can be temperamental) adopting a much smoother navigation button.
The raised keys are more user-friendly and its screen is top-notch (262.144 colour TFT).
The music player performs wonderfully and apart from the native phone memory of 20 Mb, you get a 512 Mb Memory stick, quite sufficient for over 120 high quality tracks. You can expand this memory to 1 Gb. The software for ripping CDs is included as are all the PC connecting accessories. The bundled headset is excellent, allowing for optimum music enjoyment.
The W810i also comes with an FM Radio with RDS support. The camera is 2 MP with outofocus and a 4x digi-zoom. The camera works very well especially in natural light outdoors.
All the other standard features including Bluetooth, Speakerphone, Vibrate-alert, Organiser, video-player, SMS, EMS, MMS, email, Java and polyphonic ringtones are included.
The W810i is quad-band and weighs 99g (3.5oz).
Size: 100 x 46 x 19.5 mm
