Sony Ericsson W800i Review

The Sony Ericsson W800i is a beautiful phone. OK, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I defy you to contradict that opinion. For music lovers, this phone hits just the spot. You move with your music, it sounds great, you have the CD-ripping software supplied with the phone and the action is simple drag-n-drop. The native memory may be a mere 34Mb but you get a quite decent 512 Mb Memory Stick Pro Duo™ included.

Nor is the W800i a one-trick pony. It comes with a 2MP (yes, TWO) camera with autofocus and a 4x digi-zoom. The W800i is quite clearly aimed at the music lover and by providing memory expandability, Sony Ericsson may have pulled off the trick missed in earlier models. It is also encouraging that the memory prices continue to fall.

Is there anything to dislike about it? Well, this reviewer feels at 20.5mm thickness, the W800i could have been slimmer. Sony Ericsson appear to agree with me as the follow on W880i model is less than half the thickness at 9.4mm (it is also a lot more expensive!)
